How Intermittent Fasting and Garcinia Cambogia Can Help You Lose Body Fat

One of the most popular methods for losing weight these days, fat specifically, is intermittent fasting. Pair that with one of the hottest foods for weight loss out there, Garcinia Cambogia, and you can start chasing after those weight loss goals in no time.

What is Intermittent Fasting?

Often referred to as IF, Intermittent Fasting is a type of dieting where a person will go for periods without eating. According to an article in Healthline, you cycle between fasting and eating throughout the day. The “diet” doesn’t tell you what you should eat, but when you should be consuming food. As Healthline points out, “In this respect, it’s not a diet in the conventional sense but more accurately described as an eating pattern. Common intermittent fasting methods involve daily 16-hour fasts or fasting for 24 hours, twice per week.”

So, instead of following a list of foods that you can or cannot eat, like many typical diets out there, you will follow a pattern of eating that is designed to maximize your fat loss.

How does it work? There are three main types of IF diets, and when you follow these, you will fast during the times of the day that are specified. During a fast, you do not consume any food, or only a small amount—like a cup of coffee with a bit of cream in it—and during the eating periods, you can consume food. 

According to Healthline, the most common method of IF is the 16/8 method. This is where a person will fast for 16 hours and then eat during an 8-hour window. The 16 hours usually covers the time when they are sleeping, and then time in the morning and time in the evening. Say your fast ends at noon. You would then eat from noon to 8:00 PM. After that time, you would start fasting again until the next day at noon.

There’s still lots of research going on about why this method works, but many people do report losing weight using IF. One reason, according to Healthline, might be because overall, you are consuming fewer calories in a day because you have less time to eat. Whatever the reason, it can be a good method for those who struggle with night eating or binge eating.

Garcinia Cambogia

A very popular weight loss supplement, according to this article in Healthline, Garcinia Cambogia is a small fruit that looks like a yellow pumpkin. It has a very sour taste, and so most people do not like to eat it. They can, however, use it for cooking and can reduce the sourness in that way. The rind of the fruit contains a hydroxycitric acid that is very powerful and has been known to help with fat and weight loss.

According to the Healthline article, there have been some studies that have shown that Garcinia Cambogia can produce mild weight loss. The research showed that over the course of 12-weeks, those taking it lost about 2 lbs. more than the placebo group. Other studies have shown no indication that it can lead to weight loss.

Overall, Garcinia Cambogia is not a magic weight loss cure. However, if you combine it with intermittent fasting and a healthy diet, you might find your fat loss sweet spot. No diet or weight loss plan is ever going to be foolproof, but trying these methods might be helpful if you are on a weight loss journey and looking for options to help you shed additional pounds.
